The New York Proton Center is run by a veteran leadership team with deep clinical knowledge and professional expertise in both conventional radiotherapy and proton therapy, with decades of combined experience running proton centers around the country.
Charles B. Simone, II, MD, FASTRO, FACRO
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Charles B. Simone, II is the Chief Medical Officer of the New York Proton Center. He is an internationally recognized expert in the use of proton therapy for thoracic malignancies and reirradiation and has an extensive background in traditional radiotherapy. He also specializes in developing clinical trial strategies and innovative research in thoracic radiation oncology and stereotactic body radiation therapy.
Dr. Simone is a Full Member in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He is a National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, and Department of Defense funded investigator who performs clinical and translational research investigating the benefits of proton therapy as part of multi-modality therapy for thoracic malignancies. Dr. Simone has been named a Fellow of both ASTRO and ACRO, one of only a select handful of individuals who have been awarded this designation by the two largest radiation oncology societies in the United States.
Jonathan Weinbach
Chief Executive Officer
Jonathan Weinbach, a long-tenured healthcare leader, previously served as the New York Proton Center’s CFO, directing financial planning for the $300 million-dollar facility, overseeing its budget, structure, and overall financial performance since its inception. From 2006 to 2015, he held leadership roles at 21st Century Oncology, the largest private provider of radiation therapy services in the United States, with responsibilities including proton therapy, physician marketing and network development, and international business development.
James Loos
Chief Financial Officer
James Loos is a CPA with more than two decades of experience in healthcare finance, operations, and leadership. He joined the New York Proton Center from NYU Langone Health’s Perlmutter Cancer Center where he held various leadership roles and helped to build their oncology service line into a comprehensive network of cancer centers throughout the NY region. Mr. Loos is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and received a certificate of healthcare leadership from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management.
Haibo Lin, PhD, DABR
Director of Medical Physics
Dr. Haibo Lin is a proton physicist specializing in machine and planning support, dosimetry and quality assurance who serves as the center’s Director of Medical Physics. He completed his medical physics training in 2011 at the University of Pennsylvania and served as the chief resident. Upon graduation from residency, he became an adjunct assistant professor, medical physicist and lead proton physicist at the Roberts Proton Therapy Center at Penn Medicine.
Mark McNally
Vice President of Operations
Mark McNally is an operational leader with a career spanning three decades. He joined the New York Proton Center as Vice President of Operations in 2017. Prior to joining the New York Proton Center, he held leadership roles overseeing planning and operations, with several consulting organizations focused on the finance and healthcare industries. Mr. McNally is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame.
